Job Dates:
Starting Date Range: Mid August - Early September
End Date Options:
9/26 or 10/3/2026 End Dates for “Load In ONLY” Contract
11/14/2026 End Date for “Haunt Cast & Load Out” Contract


Pay:
  • $630/wk. Plus additional 20% compensation for Haunt opening week
  • Free Provided Housing
  • Travel reimbursement at beginning and end of contract
  • Paid Sick Time (Contracted for 10 weeks or more)
The Gateway Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County is seeking CARPENTERS, ELECTRICIANS, and PROPS & PAINTS ARTISANS for its 2026 HAUNT LOAD IN and potentially HAUNT RUN/LOAD OUT. The Gateway is a professional non-profit theater located roughly 55 miles east of New York City on Long Island in Bellport, NY. A typical Gateway work week is 5 days. Haunt opening week is 6 days, with additional compensation. Salary is negotiable, and on-site housing is provided. Gateway will also assist with transportation to and from its location in New York.

Haunt Technician Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, secure, clean & organized office, shop, work, and storage spaces
  • Loading in and changing over technical elements (scenery/props/electrics/automation)
  • Constructing haunt scenery /lighting /props /automation /effects on an as needed basis
  • Loading and unloading of Haunt storage trailers
Qualifications:
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Capacity to solve problems
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work quickly and accurately with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Theatrical building techniques
  • Metal Working and Welding skills a plus
  • Ability to safely lift 60+ pounds
